The 2010 Mercedes-Smart car concept makes us cringe

Don’t go by the innocent looks of the concept you see here, for if it has its way, the Smart is going to get very ugly in 2010. And that is perhaps why we see a snarky look on the trying-so-hard to look innocent face. Designer Mori Love has put up solar panels on the roof to feed the car’s batteries, and given the car egg-shaped doors to mingle with the shape and allow easy access for four passengers. The rims have been shaped as thunderbolts to declare in a loud voice that the car is electricity-powered.
We’re not at complete odds with the idea, except that we hate the car’s shape and design, and the thunderbolt-rim idea is sort of funny. Also, we don’t think that the day will come when Daimler will ever let this design anywhere near the Smart.
