Bionic Cockpit By Stefan Barac

In the near future our cityies´ populations are going to grow exponentially. With that growth many new risks, in the field of traffic, emerge. There will be a need for the next step in car design, which will have to combine man´s intuition in driving & flexible, electronic supporting systems. Only a convergence between intelligent hardware, which enables the driver to translate one´s steering movements more directly, & supporting software, that faster visualizes dangerous situations & corrects faulty reactions, will guarantee the future roads´ safety.

Nissan’s ‘Smarter’ Navigation System Assists With Safer, Greener Driving

Nissan’s new enhanced on-board navigation system will provide drivers with more information to make safer and greener driving decisions. The company is launching an automotive navigation system that uses intelligent transportation system (ITS) infrastructure and other advanced technology to warn drivers of low-visibility intersections, school zones, and navigation-linked speed control. The navigation system can also recommend faster route calculations, which can lead to fuel savings.

Virtual Co-Drivers Will Make Trucks Of The Future Safer
Trucks of the future could be equipped with an on-board digital co-driver to assist the human behind the wheel, or even take over if the driver loses control. The HAVEit project (short for Highly Automated Vehicles for Intelligent Transport) has 28 million euros (USD$40 million) at its disposal and is aiming to develop a virtual co-driver that responds to both traffic conditions and drivers’ needs.

Green Transport: Solar powered D.O.T bridges the gap between public and private transport

EcoFactor: Futuristic solar-powered, computer-controlled public transport system.
With the increase in traffic, going from one place to another is not the same as it used to be a couple of decades ago. We somehow have become accustomed to this problem and don’t really think about it when we sit in the cozy comfort of our cars, waiting for hours for the traffic to clear out. With the continuous explosion of global population, this problem is not set to go anywhere in the near future. However, some designers have taken up the task and have created some brilliant designs that can solve some of the traffic woes – at least in megacities like London.
Futuristic Buses: FreightBUS showcases a whole new realm of urban transportation

Eco Factor: Multipurpose hydrogen-electric bus would carry passengers and cargo to reduce traffic.
The rapid industrialization and the dependence on technology means more and more goods now have to be transported on sea, land and air. Though sea and air travel don’t cause much of a problem to an urban commuter, the increase of cargo hauling trucks have made urban traffic more annoying that ever before. To end some of the woes designer Hugh Frost has proposed a whole new concept for a city transport system, On-Route, that depends on a concept vehicle called the FreightBUS.
