Electric motorcycles and scooters have made a lot of progress lately, and one of the first plug-in motorcycles to ship will be this Electric Motorsport GPR-S, known in Southeast Asia as the E-Boxer. The good news is its charging time, letting you replenish its lithium ion batteries by plugging it into an ordinary electrical outlet for a mere 90 minutes.
When alternative transportation comes to mind, the focus is usually on more eco-friendly land or air travel. After all, the open ocean provides the prevailing winds as a very sustainable power source. We have seen wind-powered cargo ships, and even a wave-powered boat. However, use of solar power for boats had not been explored much, let alone in speedboats. Until now. The Czeers Mk1 prototype is, according to their designers, the first ever solar powered speedboat. Based on the 2006 Nuon Frisian Solar Challenge winner, this marine speedster is making quite a splash. Video after the jump!
Submarine powered by a floating solar array.
Swiss company BKW FMB Energie has undertaken Project Goldfish to develop the world’s fist solar powered submarine. The submarine, which would be powered by a floating solar array, would save power that is used for continual trips to shore for recharging.
The water-lily shaped floating platform is surrounded by 5 pontoons that carry the solar panels. The array would cover an area of 300 square meters and would generate 30 kilowatts of electricity. The electricity generated would not only recharge the deep cycle batteries of the sub but would also power the GPS locaters of the submarine to maintain its position.
The Stratos is one of those commercial planes that actually makes me think “this is how the future will look like”. Rather than just being the same old basic design that has been with us forever now, the Stratos has a large 237-foot wingspan and two massive engines mounted on the back, giving it a way more stylized design than monsters like the Airbus A380. Its features, even compared to the A380, are impressive:
• Two Roll Royce Trent-like engines, capable of developing up to 95,000 lbf.
• 55,000 feet altitude ceiling.
• 505 knots cruise speed at 47,000 feet
• 208-foot long body (which in combination with the wings gives it that stylized look).
• 10,400 nautical miles range.
• 256 passengers in an all-sleeper, double-deck configuration (if only all inter-continental places were all-sleepers).
Now be a style icon with the Icare high-end futuristic bike. With its eccentric looks and spectacular design it surely is a dream come true for all the bike lovers. The engine, which is Honda 6 cylinder flat engine and 1800cm3, is completely out of this world and will definitely keep you mesmerized. Its powerful body gives you a sense of security while driving on the tarnished highways and its design looks more that of an alien. A bike with a different look and with the unbeatable performance and strength. So move out and flaunt your Icare and unleash the beast.
