Royal College of Arts has truly crafted some royally spectacular designs of concept cars that do not yet soar in to the skies but look almost good enough to go around as alien creations that are crafted for inter-planetary journey travelling at the speed of light. Being constantly in touch with almost every single concept car design on a daily basis and having seen more than a few personally it is pretty hard to get surprised anymore consistently. But once in a while amazing designs like this come along which take the standards several notches higher by not just producing ‘Spielberg’ styled stuff, but also making them energy-efficient and emission free!
There are plenty of eco-friendly cars that are around in the market today giving everyone a wide range of options to choose from when they wish to go green. There are also many concept cars that are around which will hopefully one day hit the road as they seem to be a wonderful alternate to the available models filled with green features and loaded with design improvements that really are of great use in everyday life.
Don’t let limited capabilities stop you from enjoying your adventure hobby. Just like John Davis said from the film The Chariot Races : “It’s part of breaking down the barriers. Showing we can crash. Showing we can push our limits, find the edge of our capabilities, fall sometimes and pick ourselves up.”
Intelligent Cars Exchanging Information by Themselves
Enhanced vehicle data recognising traffic conditions and possible hazards. Local hazard warnings provided by direct vehicle-to-vehicle communication. Efficient communication network not requiring any infrastructure. Just imagine what it would be like to have a car able to “talk” to other cars around you! What would those cars have to tell each other? The BMW Group is working on autonomous, self-organising communication networks – so-called ad-hoc networks – connecting cars with each other. In this process cars collect local data from their immediate surroundings, process this information and exchange it with other cars.
Fast and efficient Local hazard warnings for extra safety Real-time hazard warnings are one possible application of such an ad-hoc communication network. Such a warning only makes sense if it reaches the appropriate addressee in good time – and precisely this is the case with extremely flexible and fast ad-hoc networks using wireless LAN (WLAN) transmission technology: Should a vehicle, say, start to swerve out of control in a bend due to oil on the road or black ice, it will immediately send an appropriate warning to all other road users in the vicinity currently approaching this bend. Similarly, a vehicle can send out a warning to other cars in foggy weather before they run into a fogbank themselves.
Audi tried to combine hydrogen-powered concept with artificial intelligent, one seat only, this car has the ability to drive by itself without any help from the driver. Skinned in chrome, the Virtuea Quattro is powered by hydrogen somehow (details apparently aren’t required for this thought experiment) and has the unique ability of displaying the holographic exterior of any car throughout history, though Audi would prefer if you made it look like the R8. Special thing about this car is the “brain” that has the ability to change its own hologram body, which mean, yes … you can change the car’s body just with a single push button, hologram only of course but still … very cool concept isn’t it ?
