EcoFactor: Zero-emissions electric car.
Mitsubishi’s zero-emission “i MIEV” launch in Iceland might help the country achieve its target of being fossil-fuel free in the coming years. Iceland has been trying real hard to convert to sustainable energy. Currently, most of the country’s electric power needs are met by hydroelectric and geothermal sources.

Eco Factor: A modern semi-trailer that is powered by a drivetrain that uses solar energy, electric charge and bio-fuel to transport fragile goods in a safe fashion.
Modern semi-trailers often cause damage to fragile goods during transportation, as they are not very flexible with their suspension and also consume way too much energy while loading and unloading stuff. Ramandeep Singh is the designer of Felidae, and he draws inspiration from a leaping leopard to design his modern and energy conscious semi-trailer. The vehicle sports a flexible suspension and hence can touch the floor completely while unloading material such as glass. The truck can also vary its size, depending on the space available on city roads, and it is powered by an engine that can run on solar power, bio-fuel and even electric charge or a combination of the three.
EcoFactor: Three different concept designs for future buses that aim toward a better public transport system along with incorporation of green features. The Altcar Expo 2008 has revealed some pretty interesting designs when it comes to public transportation and city buses. The Bus of the Future contest is a part of the Expo and asks designers to present their concept “Big Blue Bus” for the streets of Santa Monica. The three models that have been picked as the finalists in the contest look pretty similar yet are very different. The Icon Bus designed by Gabriel Wartofsky draws its inspiration from the famous double-decker buses of London. The design has incorporated green features such as positive emissions and use of sequestered CO2. It also has plenty of window space for the view that the city offers.
An all-electric vehicle that integrates the concept of Segway with an electric car to give you a clean and comfortable ride. This compact and clean electric vehicle is being dubbed as the “Concept Vehicle for 2020,” but we would sure like to see this on the road a lot earlier. Designed by Sergio Luna, this concept car throws away the unnecessary aspects of modern car design and uses a pod-like exo-skeleton to create a space-conscious vehicle for future roads. It has space for only one rider, and that is perfect with the way most modern urban commuters travel to work each day. It has four electric motors with each wheel holding a couple. The concept takes its inspiration from a Segway and extends the basic principle to a car. Sleek, simple, clean and compact – this is surely a car of the future.
