Magnum Marine’s Largest Yacht Will Come With Green Credentials

Magnum Marine has announced the development of a new 100’ model, which will be the largest yacht produced by the company. Powered by a fuel-efficient hybrid engine, the yacht is expected to be delivered by 2012.

The Magnum 100 is designed by Italian designer Alberto Mancini and offers a new concept of outdoor cockpit livability. To improve fuel efficiency, the vessel has been built in advanced composite foams and carbon fiber, which helps the vessel save 20% in weight and better its performance.

The vessel also features surface drivers, which better fuel efficiency and increase top speed by reducing drag. For slow speed operation, the new Magnum will have an electric “harbor” drive that provides a smoke-free and silent cruise. The interior will feature energy-saving LED and fluorescent lighting that will decrease interior heat load.
