The Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI) has developed a lightweight electric vehicle made from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic that runs 125km on a single charge. The vehicle, dubbed the C.ta, seats three and is powered by four in-wheel motors rated at 2KW.
The vehicle was showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show 2009 and SAMPE Japan 2009. All the motors are fueled by a lithium-ion battery pack rated at 129.5V with an output of 5KWh.
