Honda introduces Ecological drive assist for Green driving
As the clichéd line goes, manufacturers are doing there best to cut down on emissions and increase fuel economy, and drivers can do their bit by driving better. And if there’s an automated system to assist the driver, then things definitely get better. It is with the driver in mind, that Honda has developed the Ecological Drive Assist System, which will make its production debut next spring in the Insight hybrid.
The system has an ‘Econ Mode’, as soon as the driver presses the button, the system works for harmonizing the CVT and engine control for better fuel efficiency. The system also works for more-efficient control of air-conditioning, extends ideal stop time and increases regenerative recharging. The second function gives feedback on the current driving process with Green, Blue Green and Blue lights, green indicates efficient driving, while blue stands for extra fuel consumption.
The third system provides cumulative, long-term feedback for driving practices and gives a rating for fuel-efficiency. An optional HDD InterNavi system has been thrown in so that the driver can access a full history of scoring and detailed statistics.
