CityCar - Compact Urban Car by Smart Cities Group

MIT Media Lab’s Smart Cities Group has developed and prototyped a compact city car dubbed the CityCar. The vehicle can be parked in much less space than a Smart Car and gets an equivalent of up to 200mpg, running on an all-electric engine.

The car doesn’t have a central engine, and is propelled by four in-wheel electric motors. The vehicle also features a regenerative braking mechanism, which juices the onboard battery pack whenever brakes are applied. The suspensions of the vehicle can be independently controlled, which allows the driver to turn the car in less space.
