The Chinese military has apparently been copying American UAV designs for a while now. After they got bored simply rebuilding Uncle Sam’s models, they decided to design a few of their own. And they blow ours out of the water.
Extremely Short Takeoff and Landing advanced vehicle concept based upon the coupling of the Lippisch Aerodyne and Custer Channel Wing. Designed to takeoff of at a speed of just 30 mph, with ground distances of less than 150 ft. The outer panels are freewings (able to freely pivot) so that the vehicle is less gust sensitive (which is a major ESTOL problem). Developed as part of the NASA Personal AIr Vehicle project under Mark Moore.
Air-Elf aircraft concept is to solve road congestion. The core of the concept is a new type of wing, “Air Caterpillar”. It can be transformed in order to meet the needs of flexibility and speed of the aircraft. Air-Elf aircraft not only can take off and land vertically, but also is able to perform high-speed cruising. In addition, Air-Elf is equipped with smooth aerodynamic appearance, clean and efficient hydrogen energy power system, solid frame, to facilitate safe and comfortable cockpit and baggage compartment.
Inspired by airships and paragliding sports, the Sky Voyage concept aims to expand traffic networks to the sky by utilizing airspace to relieve urban traffic congestion on the ground. The hybrid glider/airship can take off vertically by inflating the gasbag in an upright position. Once airborn, the craft can be maneuvered through the wind with assistance from a hydrogen fuel-cell powered turbine engine.
