With so many vehicles on the road, it has become mandatory to look out for a system that ensures that you can escape the jams and easily reach you destination. Designer Alan Ponsford has designed a similar prototype of a driverless bus.
A small model of the bus or “pod”, developed by Capoco Design and the Royal College of Art, goes on show at London’s Science Museum. This bus will be equipped with satellite navigation system, intelligent cruise control and onboard systems to control speed and direction and avoid hazards.
EcoFactor: An electric public commuting vehicle that cuts down on carbon emissions.
Designed by Nuno Teixeira, Mybus is a concept electric vehicle of the future that aims at giving a new green face to urban commuting. While the concept vehicle is all about its unique safety features that make sure that both the passengers and pedestrians are safe, its all-electric engine ensures that the planet is saved from carbon emissions. With features such as electronic stability systems, smart cruise control, brake-by-wire, rear detection systems and smart wing mirrors, the concept commuter ensures that the journey is safe and pleasant. Mybus is designed to encourage more people to take up public transportation, thereby ensuring a decrease in vehicular pollution. …Click here to read more
Eco Factor: Multipurpose hydrogen-electric bus would carry passengers and cargo to reduce traffic.
The rapid industrialization and the dependence on technology means more and more goods now have to be transported on sea, land and air. Though sea and air travel don’t cause much of a problem to an urban commuter, the increase of cargo hauling trucks have made urban traffic more annoying that ever before. To end some of the woes designer Hugh Frost has proposed a whole new concept for a city transport system, On-Route, that depends on a concept vehicle called the FreightBUS.
The biggest grudge, mortals hold against public transport is that it is ‘overcrowded and suffocating’. Designer Sergio de la Parra sees the solution in his design inPUT or Individual Public Urban Transportation concept. inPUT will work as a pod for public transport, taking commands via voice interface. Since the concept works on automated driving, it is linked to GPS and local transport system. Laser sensors work on identifying obstacles, while heat sensors monitor the exits.
Eco Factor: Hi-tech bus powered by hydrogen fuel cell.
Apart from all the machines coming to make our lives easy, the future still seems to make us more and more busy in our daily routines. While we all will get more and more involved in our busy schedules, we will have to cut down on the time we spend in relaxing and other entertainment. Engin Kapkin is one such designer who manages to provide us entertainment in a bus that is powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
